The Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative is pleased to welcome Mayor Kevin Davis and the City of Brantford, ON to its growing coalition of more than 400 mayors and local executives working to advance economic prosperity across the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River Region while protecting the globally significant freshwater resources that are the heart of the region.

For the public’s information, the following schedule changes will be in place during the upcoming holiday season from Wednesday, December 24, 2025 to Friday, January 2, 2026.

The City of Brantford places the highest priority on the safety and well-being of our community. We are committed to ensuring that all residents have access to safe and reliable drinking water. Brantford’s water supply is rigorously tested multiple times each day to ensure it meets or exceeds all provincial health and safety standards.

Brantford's New Year's Eve Celebration is taking place downtown on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. Please be advised that for the public's safety, vehicles will not be permitted to park on the upper west side of the parkade from Tuesday, December 30, 2025 to Thursday, January 1, 2026 for the New Year's Eve Celebration fireworks. 

Brant Avenue and Colborne Street are scheduled to temporarily reopen to traffic by late-afternoon on December 18, 2025, weather permitting. This reopening will remain in place through the winter, and work will resume in the spring to complete underground sanitary, storm, and watermain upgrades on the east side of the roadway.

Brantford Transit will introduce new schedules and route changes on January 11, 2026, as part of ongoing enhancements to improve connections and support easier travel across the city.

The Medical Officer of Health for the Grand Erie Public Health (GEPH) has issued a cold weather notification, effective December 13, 2025. A cold weather notification is issued when temperatures are expected to reach -15°C, (or -20° with windchill).

On Friday, December 12, 2025, Enbridge Gas Ontario (Enbridge Gas), the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council (FMPFSC) and the Brantford Fire Department announced they are working together to improve home safety and bring fire and carbon monoxide-related deaths down to zero.

The City of Brantford is advising residents to remain alert following reports of individuals going door-to-door claiming to represent the Brantford Fire Department and offering to check smoke alarms.
