Brantford 2050: Our Path Forward

The Brantford 2050 City Vision builds upon a strong foundation of advanced planning policies, strategies, and programs already adopted and underway. It does not mark a starting point, but rather the next step in our community’s ongoing journey toward a more vibrant, connected, and sustainable future. This long-term vision provides the framework to guide consistent decision-making, priority setting, and collaboration.

Over the next 25 years, Brantford will experience rapid growth, and significant economic, social and demographic changes. Some of these trends are predictable, while others will be impacted by unforeseen technological, political, economic and environmental factors.

The Brantford 2050 City Vision is based on community feedback about our collective hopes and aspirations for the future. A vision is a call to action, and motivates us to think beyond the day-to-day, signals our ambitions to other levels of government, and can help long-term decision-making.

The Brantford 2050 City Vision is organized into 6 Focus Areas and 26 Goal Statements, each identified by the community as a key priority over the next 25 years.

Connected Community

In 2050, Brantford will offer a more connected, accessible, and sustainable transportation network.

Goal Statements
  1. Bring inter-city transportation options to Brantford (ex. GO, LRT)
  2. Expand accessible transit routes within all neighbourhoods
  3. Increase Brantford’s active transportation network (ex. sidewalks, bike lanes and trails)
  4. Create and maintain roadway infrastructure to safely move vehicle traffic faster

In 2050, Brantford will have a thriving, diversified economy that supports innovation, fosters local talent, and creates high-quality employment opportunities that encourage residents to live and work locally.
