The Brantford-Brant Community Drugs Strategy was developed to address higher-than-average use of illicit drugs, changes to marijuana legislation, and the growing misuse of prescription and non-prescription opioids.
The strategy highlights ways to make immediate change, including:
- access to pain management clinics
- youth-focused addictions counselling
- increasing public education and awareness
- increasing access to long-term counselling
- more support for individuals experiencing trauma or grief
- increasing treatment and mental health supports for persons in jail
- more investment in peer support programs
