Electronic Equipment Recycling
The City’s electronic recycling program is available to Brantford residents during regular operating hours, Monday to Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Mohawk Street Landfill Site. Bring your old, used electronic equipment to the Public Drop-off Area of the landfill free of charge.
These items can be disposed of at the public drop off area. Disposal fees apply.
- Microwave ovens

Refrigerant-Containing Appliances - refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers etc. These items will not be accepted at the landfill unless they have been properly drained and tagged by a technician certified under the Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) program.
- Kitchen Appliances – coffee makers, toasters, blenders, etc.
- Household appliances – vacuums, carpet cleaners, etc.
- Electric motors
- Power tools
Tire Recycling
Tires on and off rim can be taken to the Mohawk Street Landfill Site during regular operating hours, Monday to Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., free of charge. There is a limit of 10 tires per visit.
Diversion of construction and demolition materials
You can divert the following materials for recycling:
- asphalt shingles
- roofing nails (mixed with shingles)
- dressed lumber
- shingle packaging materials
- drywall
