Water Rates

The City is responsible for the treatment and distribution of drinking water and the safe disposal of wastewater. Water and Wastewater Consumption Rates were approved by Brantford City Council resulting in a zero increase to the base charge for water in 2024-2027.

*The Service Charge is a fixed cost that covers part of the fixed expenditures for making the drinking water system available for use.

Your consumption rate is based on the metered water usage. It covers the cost of treating the water and other variable cost. A typical residential home’s Water Meter Size is 15mm, 20mm or 25mm.

Residents are encouraged to contact the City for information regarding water quality, leaks, water testing, low-pressure complaints and turning water on or off.

There is no service charge, only the Wastewater Rate applies. From May 1st to September 30th, the Wastewater Rate on single-family residential accounts is capped at a volume of 30 cubic meters per month to account for lawn watering. The cap does not apply to multi-residential dwellings or commercial, institutional or industrial customers.
