As firefighters, we also, complete training activities, conduct pre-planning activities, post-fire inspection and clean up, and maintain life saving equipment.

Requirements

 Firefighter
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Grade 12 (OSSD, transcript or GED)
  • NFPA 1001 Fire Fighters I and II from a recognized institution
  • Current First Responder or Emergency Medical Responder with valid “D” class driver’s license with “Z” endorsement
  • Clean driver’s abstract
  • Ability to swim, work within confined spaces and high places
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including holidays, weekends and weeknights
  • Commitment to career-long learning
 Fire Prevention Officer
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Grade 12 (OSSD, transcript or GED)
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s license in good standing
  • Knowledge of building construction, fire alarm systems, as well as the ability to interpret construction plans
  • Knowledge of regulating by-laws, building codes and fire codes
  • Experience involving fire behaviour, cause determination and fire suppression
  • Commitment to career-long learning
  • Conflict resolution skills
