City Grants for Non-Profit Groups and Individuals

The City of Brantford Grants Program was established to improve the well being of the community and its residents through support of programming related to health and human services, arts, culture, heritage, recreation and environmental initiatives.

Funded by the City’s revenue sharing agreement with OLG Casino Brantford and administered by the Brant Community Foundation (BCF), program grants are distributed to qualifying non-profit organizations and individuals based on specific criteria.

Grant applicants must provide financial statements, demonstrate accountability, and how funding received will benefit the community.

General Operating Grants

Applicants seeking General Operating Grants must complete the Grant Application Form and meet the following criteria:

  • General operating grants for charities and non-profit groups
  • Maximum $5,000 request
  • Application deadlines - end of March, June, September, and December

Start-up and Capital Funding Grants

Applicants seeking Start-up and Capital Funding Grants must complete both the Grant Application Form and Budget Section Form.

  • Grants for start-up funding for new organizations/programs and new capital items
  • Maximum $10,000 request
  • Application deadlines - end of March and September

Emergency Funding Grants

Applicants can apply for emergency funding to provide one-time emergency assistance for organizations experiencing an unexpected situation requiring funding.

  • Emergency funds for charities and non-profit groups (one time)
  • Maximum $20,000 request
  • Application deadlines - end of March, June, September, and December, or as needed

Travel Grants

Brantford residents can apply for funds to defray travel costs when they are attending an event as a result of success at the municipal, provincial or federal level.

  • Travel expense grants for teams and individuals representing the City of Brantford
  • maximum depends on distance
  • application deadlines - end of March, June, September, and December

Organizational Capacity Building Grants

  • To assist not-for-profit organizations in the development of an efficient and self-sustainable infrastructure.
  • One-time maximum funding up to $50,000 over 3 consecutive years with a maximum limit of $20,000 per year.
  • Organization and Capacity Building Grant Applications for 2019 must be submitted no later than August 31, 2019

All documentation should be forwarded to the Brant Community Foundation for consideration.
