Wastewater Treatment Plant New Effluent Pumping Station and Forcemain Study
The Study
The City of Brantford has initiated a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) to identify and evaluate alternative solutions for a new effluent pumping station and forcemain. The purpose of this project is to ensure continuous discharge capability under all influent flow and receiver water level conditions. In recent years, high water levels in the Grand River have impacted the operation of the Brantford Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP).
In 2020, the City of Brantford completed a feasibility study to explore options to ensure plant operations were not impacted by high water levels. Various alternative solutions were developed and evaluated, ultimately resulting in the preliminary recommendation to build a new pumping station and forcemain. This Study will evaluate the various alternatives for the new Effluent Pumping Station and Forcemain, which may include new construction on the existing property / within the existing easement.
