August construction activity in Brantford remains strong

BRANTFORD, ON – Today, the City released its August 2019 Report on Construction Activity demonstrating a construction value of $18.707 million for issued permits. Increases were seen in Single Detached Dwellings (New), Institutional & Government, Multiple Residential (New) and Industrial Sectors.

The Single Detached Dwellings (New) Sector of construction received the largest increase with a total of fourteen building permits issued for new single detached dwellings, with a total construction value of $4.950 million, compared to two building permits at a total construction value of $0.826 million in August 2018.

Increases also occurred in Institutional & Government Sector of construction. In August 2019, a total of four building permits were issued in this Sector, with a total construction value of $4.009 million, which is an increase over five building permits at a total construction value of $0.917 million in August 2018.

The largest permit in terms of construction value was issued to the City of Brantford for the construction of a new club house for Northridge Municipal Gold Course and Learning Centre, located at 320 Balmoral Drive with a construction value of $4.950 million.

Other noteworthy building permits issued in August include a permit to complete interior alterations to a manufacturing building located at 47 Morton Ave. E, which had a construction value of $1.0 million, and a permit issued to complete alterations to a retirement home located at 55 Diana Ave., which had a construction value of $0.7 million.

A total of 828 building permits have been issued to date this year, with a total construction value of $132.867 million, which is well above last year’s to date total of $93.909 million.
