BRANTFORD, ON – The Brantford Immigration Partnership (BIP) invites newcomers who moved to Brantford within the last 10 years to participate in the Newcomer Needs Assessment Survey. The feedback gathered from the survey will help enhance newcomer services in the community and ensure all newcomers continue to have the opportunity to thrive in the City of Brantford.

“We look forward to learning more about the needs of newcomers in Brantford,” says Stephanie Cooper, Community Development Coordinator for the City of Brantford. “By participating in the Newcomer Needs Assessment Survey you are directly helping to make a difference in the community.”

“The survey is a great opportunity for the BIP to learn more about our Brantford newcomers and how we can enhance community connections,” says Lily Lumsden, Senior Regional Manager, YMCA Employment & Immigrant Services (YMCA of Hamilton/Burlington/Brantford) and BIP Co-chair.

Newcomers can include landed immigrants of varying status (permanent residents or refugees) who have arrived in Canada within the past 10 years and foreign nationals, such as international students. The survey is intended to gather data on evolving community trends and demographics of our newcomer population. The information gathered from the survey will identify community priorities and existing gaps and barriers in the delivery of newcomer programs. BIP will use the survey results to guide how local organizations can work together to improve services that best support newcomers in Brantford.

The survey is open for responses until Friday, October 29, 2021 and available in eight languages including, English, French, Arabic, Punjabi, Spanish, Mandarin, Hindi, Tagalog and Mandarin. Those who participate in the survey will be entered to win 1 of 3 $100.00 Walmart gift cards. Paper copies will be available upon request for those requiring accommodation by emailing bip@brantford.ca.

Take the survey at Brantford.ca/BIPSurvey or join the conversation in the BIP Facebook group.

Newcomers to Brantford offer high levels of skills, education, and training; they contribute to the local economy, and to the enrichment of cultural life in Brantford. The Brantford Immigration Partnership (BIP) is an important opportunity to celebrate cultural diversity and inclusion, and to ensure newcomers are able to successfully contribute to the economic, social, civic, and cultural growth of Brantford.
