BRANTFORD, ON – International Women's Day (IWD) has occurred for over a centurywith the first gathering held in 1911. The day reflects on and celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender equality. Marked annually on March 8th, International Women's Day (IWD) is an important day to:

  • celebrate women's achievements
  • raise awareness about women's equality
  • lobby for accelerated gender parity

Flipping the Script

Stereotypes are entrenched beliefs perpetuated by both men and women, present in our minds since childhood.  Both men and women routinely ask questions of women that would rarely be directed to men. To demonstrate, this International Women’s Day, Mayor Kevin Davis, and Councillors, Rose Sicoli, Mandy Samwell, Linda Hunt, John Sless, Dan McCreary, Greg Martin, Michael Sullivan and Gino Caputo helped us flip the script and here is the (hilarious) result. A special thanks to the male actors in these scenes who were great sports in helping illustrate this important message.
