Brantford Economic Development Advisory Committee and Rotary Club of recognize local businesses

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) held its annual Industrial Appreciation event at the Brantford Golf and Country Club on Friday, February 28, 2020. This is the 12th year the Committee has partnered with the Rotary Club of Brantford to host the industry awards. The event recognizes that the city continues to experience steady growth, diversify, and further develop its economic base through the attraction of small and medium-sized businesses.

The annual Industrial Appreciation event recognizes new industrial firms opened in the past year, long-standing companies established 45 years ago, and honours an individual or organization with a Brantford Ambassador award. This award is presented to an individual or organization who, through their own efforts, has promoted and contributed to Brantford’s economic development.

Ten new industries established in 2019 were recognized this year as follows:

  • City View Green
  • Pharmhill
  • Hypoint Company Ltd
  • MY Construction Supply
  • Global Citrus Group
  • Jacobs & Thompson
  • New Electric
  • Automotive Refinish Technologies
  • Canada Steel
  • Stur Design

Five longstanding companies, established 45 years ago in 1974, were recognized. They include:

  • Abcott Construction Ltd.
  • Apotex Pharmachem Inc.
  • Dennis Evans Fire Equipment Ltd.
  • G&R Machine Shop
  • Renway Energy Inc.

This year EDAC selected Charlene Nicholson as their Member Brantford Ambassador.

“Brantford continues to be a prime destination for new business, and a robust environment for existing businesses to grow and succeed”, said Ken Karakas, EDAC Committee Chair. “Recognizing the valuable contribution that investment by industry makes to the city’s economy is important, and we’re very grateful to the Rotary Club for hosting this event with us to honour new corporate citizens, longstanding manufacturing mainstays, and exceptional Brantford ambassadors.”
