Brantford’s Strong Building Activity Continues

BRANTFORD, ON – Today, the City released its July 2019 Report on Construction Activity demonstrating a construction value of $33.817 million for issued permits. The construction value in July is significantly higher than the previous four years, and surpasses the past five-year average for the month of July. The number of permits issued has also increased over last year’s figures.

The largest increase occurred in the new Single Detached Dwellings Sector with a total of thirty-nine building permits and a total construction value of $13.426 million compared to only one building permit valued at $0.407 million in July 2018.

Increases also occurred in Institutional & Government Sector with a total of six building permits, with a construction value of $6.611 million. The highest valued permit was issued to the City of Brantford for the construction of a new fire station located at 21 Fairview Drive, with a construction value of $5.0 million.

Other noteworthy building permits issued in July include a permit to construct a new apartment building located at 5 Marlene Avenue, which had a construction value of $4.60 million, and a permit issued to Vicano Developments Limited to construct a new warehouse at 185 Oak Park Road, which has a construction value of $2.00 million.

A total of 700 building permits have been issued to date this year, with a total construction value of $114.200 million, well above last year’s to date total of $65.906 million. (more) Page 2. Brantford’s Strong Building Activity Continues
