City and East Ward Echo Place NA celebrate playground opening at Mohawk Park and Orchard Park

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford, in partnership with East Ward Echo Place Neighbourhood Association, invite residents to the Grand Opening Celebration of Mohawk Park and Orchard Park on Saturday, June 4, 2022. The event will begin at Mohawk Park, located at 51 Lynnwood Drive from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Orchard Park, located at 29 Brisbane Boulevard from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Each free event will include a chance to win prizes and free inflatable games, entertainment, activities, Marco the Clown, marketplace vendors, pizza and cake, while supplies last, and a ribbon cutting ceremony.

“The East Ward-Echo Place Neighbourhood Association is thrilled to join friends and neighbours in celebration of these beautiful new playgrounds with entertainment, food, fun, games, and more,” says Keith Beveridge, Rink Chair of the East Ward Echo Place Neighbourhood Association.”                                                                                       

New Mohawk Park features include new playground equipment and swings with accessible rubber surfacing, musical play components, hill slide and extra-large climbers and sand play area, asphalt paved pathways and a fully-accessible ramped play equipment. Free parking for the event is available in the upper and lower parking lots at Mohawk Park. The official ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 11:00 a.m.

New Orchard Park features include new junior equipment designed for children ages 2 to 5 and senior equipment designed for children ages 5 to 12 and swings, sand play are and asphalt paved pathways. Free on-street parking will be available and the official ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 3:00 p.m.

"We are excited to officially celebrate the opening of these new recreational spaces,” says Rick Cox, Director of Parks and Facility Services for the City of Brantford. “They will provide the community with even more ways to stay active and have fun outdoors.”
