Brantford City Hall

BRANTFORD, ON – Today the City of Brantford announced that Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Brian Hutchings will be leaving his role, effective March 3, 2023. A longtime community activist, Mr. Hutchings has served in key volunteer roles for several non-profit organizations throughout his career and has accepted a leadership position in community services in the Niagara region. He also plans to assist in managing a rapidly growing family business and looks forward to spending time with his first grandchild.

"On behalf of Council and staff, I would like to sincerely thank Brian for his tremendous contributions to the City over the last three and a half years, particularly his strong leadership during the extreme challenges faced during the pandemic," says Mayor Kevin Davis. “Among his many accomplishments, Brian was instrumental in facilitating a cost sharing agreement with the County of Brant as well as the successful merger of Brantford Power with Energy Plus, resulting in GrandBridge Energy. We wish Brian much continued success in his future endeavours.”

Mr. Hutchings also oversaw the completion of the City’s Official Plan, Transportation Master Plan, Master Service Plan, and four City budgets delivered significantly under the rate of inflation.

In 2003, Hutchings was honoured as the Citizen of the Year by the Grimsby Chamber of Commerce and in 2008 he was presented with the Niagara Award from Niagara College in recognition of his contributions to the Niagara community. Hutchings was the recipient of the 2011 Partnership Award, presented by the Business Education Council, and also received an honorary diploma from Leadership Niagara in 2012.

The City will immediately begin working on a process for the recruitment of a new CAO.
