City of Brantford Celebrates National Public Works Week 2023

National Public Works Week 2023

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford is pleased to recognize National Public Works Week, which highlights the hard work and dedication of Public Works professionals from May 21 to 27, 2023. This week presents an opportunity to celebrate the significant contributions of these professionals, who play an instrumental role in safeguarding and enhancing our community’s health, safety, and quality of life.

"This year's theme, 'Connecting the World Through Public Works,' is especially meaningful as we navigate following some challenging times," says Inderjit Hans, General Manager, Public Works, City of Brantford. "It highlights the importance of collaboration and coming together to provide essential services and improve the quality of life for our residents. I am extremely proud of the commitment and dedication that our Public Works staff show day after day."

The Public Works Commission is responsible for an array of essential services, including managing curbside waste collection, operating water and wastewater treatment plants, maintaining parks and public playgrounds, traffic management, snow removal, and road construction. These services help to keep Brantford running smoothly, ensuring the protection, delivery, and safety of our community's most valuable resources.

To kick off the celebration of National Public Works Week 2023, the City of Brantford will host a flag raising ceremony at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23 in Harmony Square (89 Dalhousie Street).

The City of Brantford and the Neighbourhood Hubs Association also invite residents to participate in the 3rd Annual Wheels on the Pavement event on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at the Brantford District Civic Centre (79 Market St. South). This event takes place from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. featuring an assortment of trucks, police vehicles, city vehicles, a fire truck, community partner booths, character meet and greets, and free entertainment.

Please join the City in recognizing the essential work of the dedicated employees of the Public Works Commission and the commitment shown by staff to Brantford daily. If you see a Public Works team member working hard in your neighbourhood, be sure to give them a wave.
