City of Brantford launches new website

Brantford City Hall

Brantford, Ontario – After a multi-year effort involving every City department and dozens of staff, the City of Brantford is excited to announce the launch of our new website - www.brantford.ca.

The site has a fresh, contemporary look that will make it easier for visitors to navigate, with an improved sitemap structure and enhanced search engine capability to help users find the information they need faster. The site is also compatible with smartphones and tablets whereby the site automatically reformats to the device being used to access the site.

“I want to thank the Website Project team for all their hard work and dedication to this huge undertaking”, said Darryl Lee, Chief Administrative Officer. “To complete a successful project of this size, scope and complexity on time and under budget is no easy task and I want to commend everyone who contributed, especially Communications and Community Engagement staff who led the project and our Information Technology group, who ensured all of the new functionality integrates seamlessly with the City’s Customer Relationship Management system.”

Additional features of the website include:

  • More ways to report an issue or request a specific service from the City
  • Community calendars that the public can share events to
  • New “How do I” feature offering easy access to service-related information such as how to Apply, Pay, and Request services
  • By-law search function
  • Searchable filtered map and listing of parks and facilities
  • Enhanced accessibility features consistent with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA standard.

The project also included development of several microsites including, Economic Development (advantagebrantford.ca), Careers (brantford.ca/careers), Brantford Transit (brantford.ca/transit) and the new WayneGretzkySportsCentre.ca site.

The new City website was developed by award winning Waterloo based eSolutions Group, a division of GHD Digital, credited with building over 150 municipal websites and recognized with more than 75 marketing and technology international awards.

“We’re really proud of all the upgrades we’ve made to enhance and improve the way we interact with residents, businesses, visitors and post secondary students”, said Maria Visocchi, the City’s Director of Communications and Community Engagement. “The beauty of a website is that it is a living document, so we want to encourage users to provide their feedback so that we can continue to make improvements and roll out new features. The site feedback link can be accessed in the footer on every page of the site.”

The new re-designed website features new menus that focus on the user under the headings of Living Here, Things to Do, Transportation, Business and Development and Your Government.
