City shares updates regarding changes to the Housing Resource Centre

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford is pleased to announce that beginning February 1, 2024, St. Leonard’s Community Services will be delivering Housing Resource Centre services to vulnerable populations in the City of Brantford and the County of Brant.

The Housing Resource Centre provides assistance to individuals and families who are experiencing housing instability and are precariously housed, at risk of homelessness or are homeless. The Housing Resource Centre is a free community service that helps individuals in Brantford-Brant to ensure that those at risk of homelessness maintain their housing and those experiencing homelessness have access to emergency shelter and support to find permanent housing.

Since its inception in 1969 as St. Leonard's Society of Brant, today, St. Leonard's Community Services provides a variety of vital services: aiding in reintegration, providing mental health and addiction counseling, crisis services, community justice programs, securing housing stability, facilitating employment opportunities, nurturing youth through tailored programs, and engaging in community outreach to foster understanding and support. Their mission centers on empowering individuals facing adversity.

The Housing Resource Centre is accessible by phone at 1-888-621-0034 and for in-person services Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 12 Market Street, Brantford.

It is anticipated that the Housing Resource Centre will be fully staffed by the end of February 2024.

The City of Brantford would like to thank The Salvation Army for being a valued partner and operating the Housing Resource Centre from December 2020 to January 31, 2024 in service to the community in an effort to meet the needs of the most vulnerable populations.
