City shares updates regarding Emergency Shelter Service improvements

BRANTFORD, ON – To better serve vulnerable populations in the City of Brantford and County of Brant, the City of Brantford’s Emergency Shelter System will be undergoing a transition. During this transition, access to shelter services are not affected and if you or someone you know is unhoused and/or are in need of immediate shelter, please seek assistance using the information provided below. 

Until January 31, 2024, the Salvation Army Housing Resource Centre will continue to provide intake to emergency shelter services during regular business hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Support can be accessed either by phone at 226-227-7692 or in person at 255 Colborne Street.

Outside of regular business hours, intake to emergency shelter assistance will be provided by St. Leonard’s Community Services any time after 4:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday and on weekends by calling 1-888-621-0034.

City partners with St. Leonard’s Community Services

Beginning February 1, 2024, the City is pleased to announce we will be partnering with St. Leonard’s Community Services to offer round-the-clock emergency shelter support to those in need. Since its inception in 1969 as St. Leonard's Society of Brant, today, St. Leonard's Community Services provides a variety of vital services: aiding in reintegration, providing mental health and addiction counseling, crisis services, community justice programs, securing housing stability, facilitating employment opportunities, nurturing youth through tailored programs, and engaging in community outreach to foster understanding and support. Their mission centers on empowering individuals facing adversity.

Emergency Shelter Services are accessible by phone at 1-888-621-0034, ensuring access to assistance 24/7.

Starting February 1, 2024, in-person services can also be accessed at the times and locations below:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 12 Market Street, Brantford
  • Monday to Friday, after 4:30 p.m. and weekends at 331 Dalhousie Street, Brantford
