BRANTFORD, ON: At its June 24th Council meeting, Brantford City Council approved a staff recommendation to support the development of 18 new affordable housing units by Brantford Native Housing at 247 - 253 West Street. As a result, the City will enter into a 10-year funding agreement with Brantford Native Housing that will provide a municipal contribution of $62,500 per unit, totaling $1,125,000, to be paid over a decade following construction completion.

The development will be the second affordable housing project to receive municipal funding under a new pilot model established through a previous agreement with Jaycees Non-Profit Housing Corporation, which supported the creation of 24 units at 32 Bridge Street.

“This project reflects our continued efforts to find innovative, community-driven solutions to address housing affordability in our community,” said Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis. “This kind of municipal support gives our non-profit partners the stability they need to secure additional funding and deliver much-needed housing quickly.”

Brantford Native Housing’s project is consistent with the goals of the Brantford-Brant Municipal Housing Master Plan, which sets a target of 843 new affordable units by 2030, including 337 to be delivered by non-profit organizations.
