FILMING NOTICE - APRIL 30 TO MAY 4, 2023

The City of Brantford Economic Development, Tourism & Cultural Initiatives Department is pleased to welcome the cast and crew of Dark Planet. They will be filming scenes at the corner of Colborne Street and Queen Street. Basecamp will be held at 101 Market Street South (Earl Haig).

The production will be filming a pivotal bank-heist scene involving interior and exterior sets including a crowd scene of approximately 125 background performers.

Film crews will arrive in Brantford on Wednesday, April 19 with preparation, filming, and wrap-up activities occurring at the locations noted above between April 19 and May 9. Primary filming days will be between April 30 and May 4.

The Production may use explosives, pyrotechnics, fires/burning, simulated gunfire, mock weapons/officers/vehicles, drones/UAV, and simulated street brawls.

Anticipated Impacts

Noise Exemption

  • Filming activities may occur until approximately 2 am on the days of primary filming. The Production has obtained a noise exemption permit to accommodate these activities.

Road and Sidewalk Closures and Intermittent Traffic Control (ITC)

  • CLOSURE: April 19 at 7 am to May 9 at 9 pm:
    • Queen St. from Dalhousie St. to Colborne St.
  • CLOSURE: April 30 at 5 am to May 5 at 2 am:
    • Colborne St. from Brant Ave. to Harmony Square (east side)
    • King St. from Dalhousie St. to Colborne St.
    • Queen St. from Darling St. to Dalhousie St.
  • ITC: April 30 at 5 am to May 5 at 2 am:
    • Dalhousie St. at Queen St. during filming hours

Street Parking

  •  April 19 at 7 am to April 29 at 9 pm:
    • Colborne St. from King St. to Harmony Square (east side)
    • Queen St. from Darling St. to Dalhousie St.
  • May 6 at 7 am to May 9 at 9 pm:
    • Colborne St. from King St. to Queen St. (north side)

Closure and Parking Displacement

  • The above areas will be reserved as noted. Part of Municipal Lot #4 at Dalhousie St. and King St. will also be used for equipment parking from April 19 to May 9.
  • Any residents and businesses displaced can reach out to the Location Manager or Assistant Location Manager identified in the notification letter delivered by the film production.
  • In and out access for affected local residents as well as business owners, employees, and customers can be coordinated.
  • Regular waste collection will be coordinated for impacted residents and businesses.
  • Cast, crew, and support vehicles will be parked at the Earl Haig Family Fun Park at 101 Market Street South as well as on private or institutional lots in the near vicinity.
