Filming Notice

The City of Brantford Economic Development, Tourism & Cultural Initiatives Department is pleased to welcome the cast and crew of Murdoch Mysteries. They will be filming scenes at 88 Dalhousie Street (Sanderson Centre), 20 Wellington Street, Waterloo Court, and 50 Palace Street (St. Basil’s Church). Basecamp will be held at 79 Market Street South (Civic Centre).

Set in Toronto at the turn of the 20th century, the series explores the intriguing world of William Murdoch, a methodical detective who pioneers innovative forensic techniques like blood testing and 'finger marking' to solve some of the city's most horrific murders.

Film crews will arrive in Brantford on Monday, January 9 with preparation, filming, and wrap-up activities occurring at the locations noted above between January 9 and January 13.

Vintage cars, horses, and actors in period police uniforms with mock weapons will be present at some of the filming locations.

Anticipated Impacts

Noise Exemption

  • Production vehicles will be relocating to different filming locations during the day and occasionally between 11 pm and 7 am. The Production has obtained a noise exemption permit to accommodate these activities.

Parking Displacement

  • Production representatives are working with residents in areas most impacted by closures and street parking to find alternative parking arrangements in close proximity to their homes. The production is also notifying businesses impacted by film parking.

Road Closures (Permitting Safe Access to Local Traffic Only)

  • West St. (at Pearl St./Nelson St.), West St. (at Albion St./Wellington St.) Intermittent Traffic Stoppage from 7 am to 11 pm on Thursday, January 12.
  • King St. (Nelson St. to Wellington St.); Queen St. (Nelson St. to Wellington St.) from 7 am on Wednesday, January 11 to 11 pm on Thursday, January 12.
  • Note: Nelson St. (King St. to Queen St.) will only be available to accommodate west-bound traffic during King St. closure as production vehicles will be occupying the south lane. No east-bound traffic will be available.
  • Waterloo Crt. (the entire length); Waterloo St. (Duke St. to Pearl St.); Hart St. (the entire length); Fleet St. (the entire length) from 7 am to 11 pm on Thursday, January 12.
  • Crown St. (the entire length); Palace St. (Pearl St. to Duke St.) from 7 am to 11 pm on Thursday, January 12.

Street Parking

  • Darling St. (south side from Queen St. to Market St.), Dalhousie St. (north side from Queen St. to Market St.), Queen St. (east side from Darling St. to Dalhousie St.) from 5 am on Monday, January 9 to Thursday, 12 pm January 12.
  • Nelson St. (West to Queen) from 7 am on Wednesday, January 11 to 11 pm on Thursday, January 12.
  • Pearl St. (from Richmond St. to West St.), Duke St. (from Richmond St. to West St.), and Waterloo St. (from Duke St. to Wadsworth St.) from 7 am on Wednesday, January 11 to 11 pm on Thursday, January 12.
  • Waterloo Crt. (the entire length); Waterloo St. (Duke St. to Pearl St.), Hart St. (the entire length); Fleet St. (the entire length) from 7 am on Wednesday, January 11 to 7 am on Thursday, January 12 (with closure to follow).
