Filming Notice: June 6-7

Recognizing how welcoming film contributes to short-term economic investment, cultural development, and civic pride in the community, the City of Brantford Economic Development, Tourism & Cultural Initiatives Department is pleased to host the cast and crew of Kestrel.

The production will be filming overnight driving scenes on Veterans Memorial Parkway (VMP) between Shellard Lane and Mt. Pleasant Street. Affected residents and businesses are being notified. 

Crews will conduct preparation, filming, and wrap-up activities in these areas between June 6 at 12 am to June 7 at 3 pm (weather alternate: June 11 at 12 am to June 12 at 3 pm).

Anticipated Impacts

Road Closures

Under police supervision, roads will be closed on June 6 at 12 am to June 7 at 3 pm (weather alternate: June 11 at 12 am to June 12 at 3 pm):

  • Veterans Memorial Parkway from Shellard Lane to Mt. Pleasant St.
  • Blackburn Dr. from Diana Ave. to Veterans Memorial Parkway.

Intermittent Traffic Stoppages

Under police supervision, intermittent traffic stoppages will be occurring during the evening of June 6 at 9 pm to June 7 at 6 am (weather alternate: June 11 at 9 pm to June 12 at 6 am):

  • Veterans Memorial Parkway at Shellard Lane.

Street Parking

The following street parking areas will be utilized for lighting equipment from June 6 at 7 pm to June 7 at 6 am (weather alt: June 11 at 7 pm to June 12 at 6 am):

  • Kings Hill Lane somewhere between Hillcrest Avenue and Strawberry Lane for lighting equipment

Detours

To accommodate the closures noted above, the following detour will be in place on June 6 at 12 am to June 7 at 3 pm (weather alternate: June 11 at 12 am to June 12 at 3 pm):

  • from Shellard Lane – north on Veteran’s Memorial Parkway to east on Colborne St. W. to south on Mt. Pleasant St.
  • from Mt. Pleasant St. – north onto Mt. Pleasant to west on Colborne St. W. to Veterans Memorial Parkway.

Noise

The production will conduct overnight driving scenes during the closures noted above. Supporting vehicles and related equipment including lighting and muffled generators (outputting sound similar to an idling passenger SUV or pick up truck) will be located on Blackburn Drive, Kings Hill Lane, on Bell Lane west of Veterans Memorial Parkway, and on private properties west of Veterans Memorial Parkway. A noise exemption permit is being obtained for these activities.
