Filming Notice – May 31, 2021

The City of Brantford Economic Development and Tourism Department is pleased to welcome the cast and crew from Matheson 3 to film scenes for an upcoming episode of their Netflix television series. They will be filming scenes at Marvelous Lounge (310 Colborne St.) and Sherwood Restaurant (799 Colborne St.)

As of April 8, 2021 at 12:01 a.m. Ontario has declared its third state of emergency and Premier Ford has issued a province-wide Stay-at-Home Order until at least June 2, 2021. Under this order, there are no further restrictions to film and television activities. Throughout this time, commercial film and television production, including all supporting activities such as hair, makeup and wardrobe, is allowed if productions meet the restrictions outlined in the document entitled “Film and Television Industry Health and Safety during COVID-19,” issued by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development. Further details about permitted Media Industries activities are available on the Province of Ontario website. Provincial regulations are also detailed in S63 of O. Reg. 82/20.

The film crew will be on site from May 28 to June 4, 2021 for a combination of prep, filming, and wrap days. A filming notice has been distributed to residents and businesses in the vicinity by the production.

Anticipated Impacts
Local businesses and residents near 310 Colborne will be impacted by the road occupancies noted below:

  • Road Closure: Colborne St. (from Clarence St. to Park St.) and Alfred St. (from Dalhousie St. to East Ave.) from June 2 at 6:30 p.m. to June 3 at approximately 3:00 a.m.
  • Road Parking Lane Occupancy: Colborne (Clarence-Alfred), East Ave (Newport to Park) and Alfred (Dalhousie to East Ave) on May 28 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and May 30 at 7:00 a.m. to June 2 at approximately 3:00 a.m.
  • Road Parking Lane Occupancy: Colborne (Clarence-Alfred) from June 3 at approximately 3:00 a.m. to June 4 at 8:00 p.m.
  • Intermittent Traffic Stoppage: at the intersections of Darling/Clarence, Dalhousie/Clarence, Colborne/Clarence from June 2 at 5:00 p.m. to June 3 at approximately 3:00 a.m.

Local businesses and residents near 799 Colborne will be impacted by the road occupancies noted below:

  • Intermittent Traffic Stoppage: at the intersections of Colborne/James, Colborne/Hamilton/Chester, and Glenwood/Locks from June 2 at approximately 11:00 p.m. to June 3 at 7:00 a.m.

About the Production
Matheson 3 tells the story of three siblings and their father’s mysterious death. They move with their mother into their ancestral home, which is full of magical keys that they believe are connected to their father’s death. Season 1 debuted in 2020 and Season 2 is expected to arrive on Netflix in 2021.
