Filming Notices: May 13 to June 13

Recognizing how welcoming film contributes to short-term economic investment, cultural development, and civic pride in the community, the City of Brantford Economic Development, Tourism & Cultural Initiatives Department is pleased to host the cast and crew of Karate Ghost.

This production will be filming at multiple locations in and around the downtown from mid-May to mid-June. This second update includes all planned activities as requested by the production, including the original activities on George Street, around Victoria Park, and at the Sanderson Centre (88 Dalhousie Street).

A wide range of locations, dates, and impacts are noted in the lists below. Crews plan to conduct preparation, filming, and wrap-up activities within the times specified.

Anticipated Impacts

Road Closures

These will be at the following locations:

  • George Street from Nelson Street to Darling Street on May 14, 23 AND June 16 between 7 am to 11 pm on each day.
  • Queen Street between Dalhousie Street and Colborne Street on May 22 from 7 am to 11 pm.
  • Dalhousie Street from Market Street to Queen Street from June 11 at 10:30 pm to June 12 at 6 am.
  • Alfred Street from Victoria Street to Mary Street from June 13 at 6 pm to June 14 at 6 am
  • Arthur Street from Alfred Street to Park Avenue from June 13 at 6 pm to June 14 at 6 am.

Intermittent Traffic Stops

These will be alternating between the following intersections:

  • George Street at Wellington Street on May 14, 23 AND June 16 between 7 am to 11 pm on each day.
  • George Street at Darling Street on May 14, 23 AND June 16 between 7 am to 11 pm on each day.

Intermittent traffic stops as well on the following intersections:

  • 88 Dalhousie Street sidewalk area on May 14 AND 26 between 8 am to 10 pm on each day.
  • Dalhousie Street at Queen Street on May 22 between 7 am to 11 pm.
  • Colborne Street at Queen Street on May 22 between 7 am to 11 pm.
  • Dalhousie Street at Market Street on May 26 between 8 am to 10 pm.
  • Colborne Street at 46 Colborne Street on May 26 between 2 pm to 9 pm.
  • Colborne Street W. at Oak Street on June 3 between 8 am to 1 pm.
  • Colborne Street W. at 57 Colborne Street W. on June 3 between 8 am to 1 pm.
  • Dalhousie Street at Market Street on June 11 from 7 pm to 10:30 pm.

Reserved Street Parking

These will be occurring on the following street segments with spots reserved via cones late evening before the start of the dates noted:

  • 88 Dalhousie Street with 6 spots on the north side of the street on May 14 and 26, AND June 11
  • George Street just south of Darling Street with 4 spots on west side and 2 spots on east side on May 14, May 23 AND June 16.
  • George Street on the west side between Wellington Street and Darling Street on May 15 AND 16.
  • Wellington Street on the south side from Market Street to George Street on May 23 AND June 16.
  • Darling Street on the north side from Market Street to George Street on May 23 AND June 16.
  • Market Street on the east side from Wellington Street to Darling Street on May 23 AND June 16.
  • Colborne Street on the north side at 46 Colborne Street – 2 to 3 spots total on May 26.
  • Colborne Street on the south side between Icomm Drive and King Street on May 26.
  • King Street on both sides between Dalhousie Street and Colborne Street on May 26.
  • Alfred Street on the west side from Victoria Street to Mary Street on June 2 and on June 13 (overnight).

Park Filming

The following parks will be reserved for filming on the dates specified:

  • Victoria Park on May 23 and June 16.
  • Shallow Creek Park on June 2 and 13 (overnight).

Noise Exemption

A noise exemption permit will be used for the following locations:

  • Dalhousie Street from Market Street to Queen Street on June 11 (overnight).
  • Shallow Creek Park and parking on the west side of Arthur Street at the Park for June 13 (overnight).
