Filming Notices: May 14 and 16, 2025

Recognizing how welcoming film contributes to short-term economic investment, cultural development, and civic pride in the community, the City of Brantford Economic Development, Tourism & Cultural Initiatives Department is pleased to host the cast and crew of two separate productions this week.

Karate Ghost

This independent Canadian feature film production will be filming at multiple locations in and around the downtown from mid-May to mid-June. This is the first of several updates on their evolving production schedule.

The first impacts will be related to filming interior and exterior scenes at 73 George Street, in Victoria Park, and at 88 Dalhousie Street.

Crews will conduct preparation, filming, and wrap-up activities that will vary by day with anticipated impacts for these areas noted below.

Anticipated Impacts

Road Closures

These will be at the following locations:

  • George Street from Nelson Street to Darling Street on May 14, 23 AND June 16 between 7 am to 11 pm on each day.

Intermittent Traffic Stops

These will be alternating between the following intersections:

  • George Street at Wellington Street on May 14, 23 AND June 16 between 7 am to 11 pm on each day.
  • George Street at Nelson Street on May 14, 23 AND June 16 between 7 am to 11 pm on each day.

Additionally, stoppage on Dalhousie Street will take place:

  • Dalhousie Street at Market Street on May 26 between 8 am to 10 pm.
  • 88 Dalhousie Street sidewalk area on May 14 AND 26 between 8 am to 10 pm on each day.

Reserved Street Parking

These will be occurring on the following street segments with spots reserved via cones late evening before the start of the dates noted:

  • 88 Dalhousie Street with 6 spots on the north side of the street on May 14 AND May 16.
  • George Street just south of Darling Street with 4 spots on west side and 2 spots on east side on May 14, May 23 AND June 16.
  • George Street on the west side between Wellington Street and Darling Street on May 15 AND 16.
  • Wellington Street on the south side from Market Street to George Street on May 23 AND June 16.
  • Darling Street on the north side from Market Street to George Street on May 23 AND June 16.
  • Market Street on the east side from Wellington Street to Darling Street on May 23 AND June 16.

Quartz

The Quartz production will be filming interior and exterior scenes at 669 and 699 Colborne St.

Crews will conduct preparation, filming, and wrap-up activities at the noted location daily from May 15 to May 17.

Anticipated Impacts

Intermittent Traffic Stops

Under police supervision, these will be alternating between the following on May 16 at 7 am to May 17 at 1 am:

  • Colborne St. at Robinson Ave.;
  • Colborne St. at Echo Villa Ave;
  • Colborne St. at James Ave.;
  • Colborne St. at Locks Rd; and
  • Colborne St. at Hamilton Ave.

Reserved Street Parking

These will be occurring on the following street segments on May 15 at 9 pm to May 17 at 10 am:

  • Echo Villa Ave. – east side (Colborne to Glenwood);
  • Glenwood Dr. – north side (Echo Villa to Locks); and,
  • Locks Rd. – east side (Glenwood to Colborne).

Noise

The production will use picture vehicles temporarily on Colborne St. Support vehicle parking will be using street parking on Echo Villa Ave. (Colborne to Glenwood), Glenwood Dr. (Echo Villa to Locks) and Locks Road (Glenwood to Colborne) in the later  evening of May 15.  A noise exemption permit is being obtained for these activities.
