Healthy Kids Passport to Health Promotion

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford and the County of Brant are pleased to announce the return of the Healthy Kids Passport to Health from March 13 to 28, 2021. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this free program will be offered virtually this year for children in Brantford and the County of Brant. Over 20 community partners in Brantford and the County of Brant are offering free virtual activities for children. Activities include cooking classes, museum tours, art classes, STEMOTICS and more. Kids can participate in as many activities as they want but space is limited in some activities and pre-registration is required. All of the activities and registration details for the Healthy Kids Passport to Health can be found at Brantford.ca/HealthyKids.

Children who participate in the Healthy Kids Passport to Health program have an opportunity to enter for a chance to win one of several prizes offered by local partners. The Healthy Kids Passport to Health photo contest features a grand prize of a $400 City of Brantford Parks and Recreation Gift Certificate which can be used to participate in City of Brantford swim lessons, registered or drop-in programs, day camps and more. Nine additional prizes will be awarded, valued at $100 each for; Brant Sports, Crock-A-Doodle, Grand Experiences, Grand River Conservation Authority, Smak Dab Pottery, Sport Chek, The Bicycle Shop, Twin Valley Zoo, and Walter Gretzky Municipal Golf Course and Learning Centre.

The contest opens on March 13, the first day of the passport program, and closes on March 28, the last day of the passport program. Details on how to enter the contest can be found on Brantford.ca/HealthyKids.

To promote cultural learning, support physical activity and celebrate Brantford’s diversity, the City is pleased to introduce the next theme for the Healthy Kids program, Healthy Kids Celebrate Culture! Programming and activities will be developed throughout 2021 working with Indigenous organizations, cultural associations and the Brantford Immigration Partnership (BIP).

About the Healthy Kids Brantford-Brant Passport to Health

Since 2015, the Passport to Health program has proven to be an effective way to successfully connect kids to discover new activities they may not have otherwise tried. The Healthy Kids program continues to demonstrate significant success in changing the culture of children’s health within the community through innovative projects, partnerships and awareness campaigns. Parents whose children have participated in the Healthy Kids program reported improvements in their child’s motivation to participate in physical activity, eat healthy foods, and drink more water.
