MTO project continues with next stage of WGP ramp closures and lane reductions
BRANTFORD, ON – As part of the ongoing Ministry of Transportation (MTO) infrastructure improvements along Wayne Gretzky Parkway (WGP) and Highway 403, construction is set to transition to the next phase beginning Wednesday, June 11, 2025. This work is led entirely by the Ministry of Transportation and its contractors as part of a multi-year highway rehabilitation and bridge repair project. This phase of work, which was previously scheduled, is proceeding alongside repairs to the bridge structure caused by recent vehicle strikes. All work is expected to be completed by mid-to-late September 2025.
The City of Brantford recognizes the impact this work has on residents and commuters and will continue to share updates as they are provided by the MTO. While the City is not managing or overseeing this construction, we remain committed to keeping the community informed.
Ramp closures beginning June 11, 2025:
- Highway 403 westbound off-ramp to Wayne Gretzky Parkway (from east to north/south ramp)
- Highway 403 westbound on-ramp from Wayne Gretzky Parkway (from south to west ramp)
- Highway 403 eastbound on-ramp from Wayne Gretzky Parkway (from north to east ramp)
Additional impacts
- Lane reductions on Wayne Gretzky Parkway: One lane in each direction will remain open. Drivers should expect delays, particularly during peak travel times.
- Nightly lane closures on Highway 403 in both eastbound and westbound directions.
- Reduced speed limit on Highway 403 within the construction zone to 80 km/h.
- Advance warning signage will be installed by the MTO’s contractor along Highway 403 and Wayne Gretzky Parkway.
This MTO-led project is a critical investment in our community’s transportation infrastructure, and we thank the public for their cooperation and understanding while this necessary work is completed.
