October construction sees growth in Single Detached Dwellings

BRANTFORD, ON – Today, the City released its October 2019 Report on Construction Activity demonstrating a construction value of $4.919 million for 62 building permits issued. The City of Brantford’s construction activity continues to grow with significant increases in the Single Detached Dwellings (New) Sector during the month of October.

A total of ten building permits were issued for new single detached dwellings with a total construction value of $2.318 million, which is an increase over two issued permits in October 2018 with a total construction value of $0.681 million. The largest building permit in terms of construction was issued to TJA Developments Inc., for the construction of two new 3-unit street townhouse buildings, located at 1 and 3 Spring Street, which each had a construction value of $0.589 million.

Other noteworthy building permits issued in October include a permit to complete alterations to an existing warehouse located at 53 Craig Street, which had a construction value of $0.120 million, and a permit issued to repair fire damage dwelling units located at 40 Queen Street, with a construction value of $0.285 million.

A total of 1,007 building permits have been issued to date this year, with a total construction value of $173.755 million, which is above last year’s to date total of $113.862 million for 881 issued permits.
