WATERLOO, ON, November 5, 2020 – Piller’s Fine Foods has announced plans to build a $19.1 million expansion to their processing facility in Brantford, Ontario.

The new 27,000 square feet addition will house leading-edge, automated processing equipment and additional production equipment to support the company’s growth strategy.

According to Trent Hilpert, President of Piller’s Fine Foods, “The Brantford facility expansion will enable Piller’s to meet the growing consumer demand for our premium products.  It will also allow for continued innovation and further portfolio expansion in key categories.”

The existing facility was built in 2004 and employs 130 full-time production and office staff. Once the expansion is completed, 15 new full-time jobs are expected to be added within the expanded facility. Construction on the expansion started late last month, with planned start-up to commence in Q4 2021.

“We are so pleased to have a long-standing and respected employer like Piller’s expand operations in our community,” says Kevin Finney, Director of Economic Development and Tourism for the City of Brantford. “We strongly support Piller’s continued leadership in this important sector and their vital contribution to our local economy.”

About Piller's Fine Foods

Piller’s Fine Foods is one of Canada’s leading manufacturers of specialty European deli meats. Its corporate headquarters, production plant and distribution centre are located in Waterloo, Ontario, with additional production operations in Brantford, and Arthur, ON.

Piller’s was founded in 1957 in Waterloo by Wilhelm Huber using family recipes, quality ingredients, and traditional European sausage-making methods. From those humble beginnings, Piller’s has become one of North America’s largest producers of European sausages and deli meats, famous for award-winning products such as Black Forest ham and air-dried salamis. To this day, Piller’s still uses the same natural aging, curing, and smoking process that had customers lining up outside Wilhelm Huber’s butcher shop more than 60 years ago.
