Residents encouraged to be part of City’s 2020 Budget Development Process

BRANTFORD, ON: The City of Brantford understands that municipal budget decisions have a profound impact on the daily lives of our residents. From garbage collection, to public transit, to the safety of our neighbourhoods, city budgets sit at the heart of a community’s development and residents’ quality of life.

The City of Brantford considers resident engagement, accountability, fiscal prudence, and transparency as fundamental components of our budget development process. Meaningful and effective public engagement improves the quality of decisions made, facilitates citizen understanding of issues and government processes, fosters respect for the views of others, and increases support, understanding and ownership of decisions made.

2020 BUDGET PUBLIC SURVEY

As part of our ongoing efforts to engage the public in the budget planning process, the City invites residents to take part in the 2020 Budget Priorities Survey available on the City’s website at brantford.ca/citybudget, and Facebook and Twitter social media pages @CityofBrantford or by typing bit.ly/2020BudgetSurvey into your web browser.

2020 BUDGET PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE

The public is also invited to attend a 2020 Budget Priorities Public Open House at the Brantford Civic Centre (79 Market St.) from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday November 13th, 2019 where residents will have an opportunity to ask questions of City staff and share feedback regarding the City’s proposed draft 2020 City operating and capital budgets that will be available at the meeting and on the City’s website prior to the Open House at brantford.ca/citybudget.

2020 BUDGET BLOG

In conjunction with the launch of the City’s new website earlier this year, we are pleased to provide an additional and convenient way for residents to provide their feedback. The public is encouraged to join the conversation about the City’s 2020 budget priorities on our Budget Blog at brantford.ca/blog. This forum is dedicated to collecting feedback about what residents think the City's 2020 priorities should be and why.
