Covid-19 Service Update - Hourly Service and NWIA Shuttles

Beginning Monday, April 6th, 2020, Brantford Transit will operate on an hourly service schedule seven days per week as outlined below:

  • Monday to Friday morning rush half-hour service from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
  • Monday to Saturday service will start at 8:00 a.m. and run hourly until 8:00 p.m.
  • Monday to Saturday evening routes will operate from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
  • Sunday service remains unchanged and will continue to operate hourly from 8:00 a.m. 8:00 p.m.

A dedicated shuttle bus will support the Northwest Industrial Area from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday to Saturday. Extra shuttles will be available to ensure the 15 passenger limit on all services. The above-listed service level changes will remain in place until further notice.

Free Rear Door Access

In order to further adhere to social distancing guidelines and to reduce the risk to transit operators, effective immediately, Brantford Transit (BT) has implemented a rear door access only policy on all BT buses until further notice. During this period, riders will not be expected to pay fares, however, transit operators will be enforcing a maximum of 15 passengers per bus and only allow people with accessible needs to continue to board from the front door. We continue to encourage riders during this time to only use transit as necessary and to practice social distancing when on board. This process will remain in effect until further notice.

Additional preventative measures

All Transit buses are cleaned and disinfected every 24 hours using a long lasting anti-microbial disinfectant cleaner. The enhanced cleaning regimen also includes additional disinfecting on frequent touch points with focus on fare collection machines, handrails, buttons, seats and straps.

Each bus automated voice callout system has also been updated to remind passengers to wash their hands and follow Covid-19 best practices as instructed by the driver.

We continue to look at different ways to provide reliable, sustained service for those passengers who need it most and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these changes.
