The Brantford Immigration Partnership (BIP) launched in April 2020 to help build a better understanding of the unique perspectives of immigrants, strengthen community partnerships to enhance services, and celebrate inclusion and cultural diversity in our city.

This summer, BIP is pleased to invite new Canadians in Brantford to join us for Newcomer Welcome Day on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mohawk Park located at 51 Lynnwood Drive. Several community organizations will be on-hand to share resources and answer questions. Interpreters will also be available for select languages including: Ukrainian, Arabic, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, and Tagalog.

“Our goal is to provide a valuable opportunity for newcomers to make meaningful connections and easily access useful community resources,” says Lily Lumsden, Senior Regional Manager at YMCA Hamilton/Burlington/Brantford. “We look forward to sharing important information with families and having lots of fun in the process.”

This family-friendly event will feature an information fair where attendees can learn about key programs and services available across all public sectors. The event will also feature a variety of family-friendly activities, entertainment, and prizes.

“Brantford is proud to be a culturally vibrant community that strives to provide newcomers with the support they need to succeed and participate in the economic, social, civic, and cultural growth of our city,” says Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis. “I very much look forward to joining the Brantford Immigration Partnership on their Newcomer Welcome Day to show my appreciation for those who work together to make Brantford a more welcoming place for everyone.”

Activities will include picnic games such as cornhole, Connect-4, and snakes and ladders, as well as cultural dances, music, and more. Children are welcome to bring their bathing suits and cool off in the Sprinklemania Splash Pad. Food and refreshments will be available, while supplies last.

Local agencies in attendance will include:
