City of Brantford holiday season schedule changes 2023-24

Brantford, ON - For the public’s information, the following schedule changes will be in place during the upcoming holiday season from December 24, 2023 to January 2, 2024.

Brantford City Hall and Customer Service

Brantford City Hall and Customer Service will be closed from December 23 to 26 and reopen on Wednesday, December 27 at 8:30 a.m. City Hall and Customer Service will close at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 29 and reopen on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 8:30 a.m. While closed, all customer service calls will be routed to the City’s after-hours provider that can be reached by calling the City’s Customer Service number at 519-759-4150.

Brantford Transit and Brantford Lift

Curbside collection

The City of Brantford’s curbside collection will be adjusted the weeks of December 25, 2023 and January 1, 2024 due to the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. Waste collection services including garbage, recycling and green bin will not take place on Christmas Day (Monday, December 25, 2023) and New Year’s Day (Monday, January 1, 2024). Collection will occur one day later than regular scheduled collection days from Tuesday, December 26, 2023 to Saturday, December 30, 2023 and from Tuesday, January 2, 2024 to Saturday, January 6, 2024.

The City of Brantford will collect Christmas trees at the curb from Tuesday, January 2 to Friday, January 12, 2024. Place your Christmas tree visible at the curb before 7 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. Please remember to remove ornaments, tinsel, tree stands and plastic bags from your tree. Christmas trees longer than 8’ must be cut in half. Christmas trees that are buried in snow or frozen to the ground will not be collected.

Food related plastics (1 through 7), cardboard tubes, cardboard boxes and cartons can be recycled. Only wrapping paper that is 100 per cent plain paper can be recycled. Metallic or cellophane wrapping paper, tissue paper and styrofoam are not recyclable and should be put in the garbage.

The Mohawk Street Landfill Site will be open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding Christmas Day (December 25) and New Year’s Day (January 1), and will remain closed on Sundays.

The Parking Enforcement Office at Brantford City Hall will be closed from December 23 to 26 and reopen on Wednesday, December 27 at 8:30 a.m. and will close at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 29 and reopen on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 8:30 a.m.

Brantford Lights at Glenhyrst

Residents can enjoy the annual Brantford Lights at Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant until January 1, 2024 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. nightly. Donations to the Brantford Food Bank are greatly appreciated.

Brantford New Year’s Eve Celebration on December 31, 2023

Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Brantford on December 31, 2023 from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. The evening begins at the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts at 9:00 p.m. with free live music by Wicked Truth (classic rock) and Summer of 69’ (Bryan Adams tribute), photo booth and party favours. Doors open at 8 p.m. Ring in the New Year at Harmony Square with the ball drop at midnight, followed by a spectacular firework display. You can find details at www.brantford.ca/NewYearsEve.
