City offering April Spring Break Day Camps with strict COVID-19 measures in place

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford is pleased to offer Spring Break Day Camps from April 12 to 16, 2021 for children ages 4 to 12 at Woodman Park Community Centre and the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre. All necessary COVID-19 health and safety protocols consistent with our region’s current Red-Control level designation will be in place including enhanced cleaning measures and enforcement of physical distancing, face coverings and regular hand washing hygiene.

The Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, located at 254 North Park Street, will offer a Spring Break Aquatic Camp to children ages 6 to 12 years from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Campers can enjoy a variety of physically distanced activities including: swimming, ice-skating, crafts, sports, games and more. Registrants must bring a swimsuit, towel, water bottle, comfortable running shoes for both indoors and outdoors, appropriate outdoor clothing and lunch including snacks. Extended care will not be offered at this time.

Woodman Park Community Centre, located at 491 Grey Street, will offer two Woodman Park Spring Break Camps for children ages 4 to 8 and 9 to 12 years from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Free extended care will be available 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Campers can expect to have a great time playing distanced games, activities, crafts and more. Registrants must bring a water bottle, comfortable running shoes for both indoors and outdoors, appropriate outdoor clothing and lunch including snacks.

“We are excited to offer this opportunity for kids to engage with others in a safe environment while offering parents child care”, said Emily Hunter, Aquatic Supervisor, Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre. These camps have been designed to get participants off the couch, out of the house and safely interacting with their peers in a large supervised space.”

Pre-registration is required for both camps through Brantford.ca/RecConnect. There are limited spots available. Registration begins online on Monday, March 29 at 8:00 a.m. Additional COVID-19 safety protocols including, daily screening and sign-in, use of face coverings, enhanced cleaning and handwashing and physical distancing will be implemented. Please note all programming is dependent on current provincial direction and modifications may be required. 

Financial assistance is available for those who qualify. Please reference the Financial Assistance Chart to determine eligibility and fill out the Financial Assistance Application to apply.
