PURPOSE AND EFFECT OF THE PROPOSED OFFICIAL PLAN AMENDMENT:

The Amendment affects lands identified in the City of Brantford Official Plan as part of the Natural Heritage System for the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe (Growth Plan NHS) and which have been removed from the Growth Plan NHS by the Province of Ontario. The Amendment changes the Growth Plan Natural Heritage System and corresponding Core Natural Areas Designation and Adjacent Lands Overlay on Schedule 6 of the City of Brantford Official Plan to align with the revised Growth Plan NHS. The Amendment also changes the affected Core Natural Areas to other land uses on Schedules 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the City of Brantford Official Plan as originally proposed in the Council-adopted Official Plan (March 26, 2021) prior to the new Official Plan’s approval as modified by the Province (August 4, 2021).

LOCATION OF LANDS AFFECTED:

The lands are located within the municipal boundary adjustment lands that were transferred to the City of Brantford from the County of Brant on January 1, 2017, generally to the east of Park Road in the north and in the Tutela Heights rural area in the south.

If you wish to be notified of the decision of the City of Brantford on the proposed Official Plan Amendment, you must make a written request to the City Clerk at clerks@brantford.ca or by mail to the City Clerk, City of Brantford, City Hall, 58 Dalhousie Street, P.O. Box 818, Brantford, ON N3T 5R7. If Council adopts the Official Plan Amendment, it will be sent to the Province of Ontario for approval in accordance with Section 26 of the Planning Act. The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing is the approval authority. Pursuant to subsections 17(36.5) and 21(3) of the Planning Act, the Minister’s decision is final as there is no appeal in respect of a decision of the approval authority if the approval authority is the Minister.

Personal information collected and recorded at the Open House and Public Meeting or through written submissions on this subject is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act, 2001, as amended, and the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.P.13 and will be used by Members of Council or Committee and City of Brantford staff in their consideration of this matter.
