The City encourages residents to Show Their Canadian Spirit

BRANTFORD, ON – The City of Brantford and Brantford’s Canada Day Celebration Committee, in partnership with The Kiwanis Club of Brantford (Kiwanis), is excited to announce the Show Your Canadian Spirit Home Decorating Contest. Residents are encouraged to show their spirit by registering online by June 16, 2021 and decorate their homes for a chance to win $2,000 in prizes!

“The Kiwanis Club is thrilled to join the City in celebrating Canada Day through the Show Your Spirit contest to promote positivity and excitement in the community during this difficult time,” says Judy Jones, President of The Kiwanis Club of Brantford. “We are looking forward to showcasing Brantford’s true spirit and seeing what residents come up with.”

Residents who pre-register to participate in the contest will have their homes judged, for a chance to win a top prize of $1000 and five runner-up prizes of $200 each, courtesy of Kiwanis. In addition, Kiwanis will donate $500 to a local registered charity, chosen by the grand prize contest winner.

Judging categories include:

  • Originality (thinking outside the box)
  • “Spirit” of the Canadian Theme (use of iconic Canadiana)
  • Overall Appearance (curb appeal)
  • Construction Ingenuity (stable, clever design).

Residents that want to participate in the contest have until Wednesday, June 16, 2021 to register online at bit.ly/ShowYourCanadianSpirit. After registering, participants have until Wednesday, June 22, 2021 to decorate in their best red and white Canadian theme for the judges to consider. The first 150 homes to register will receive a free red and white Canadian themed hanging basket to compliment their display.
