BRANTFORD, ON – In an effort to support local businesses in their ongoing recovery, Brantford’s Temporary Patio Allowance for private and public outdoor patios will remain in place until at least June 28, 2022. The allowance grants all restaurants and other commercial or retail uses in the City of Brantford the opportunity to apply for a temporary outdoor patio extension.

The City lifted its COVID-19 declaration of emergency on March 19, 2022. Three months from that date, Council will consider whether or not to extend the temporary patio allowance.

“The City and Council recognize the importance of supporting our local restaurants and business owners during what for many continues to be a difficult time”, says Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis, Chair of the Mayor’s Economic Recovery Task Force. “It is our hope that the Temporary Patio Allowance will continue to assist in economic recovery for local businesses seeking to re-establish operations.”

All applicants are still required to adhere to current guidelines as set by the Brant County Health UnitAlcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. To apply for the Temporary Patio Allowance, please contact jmuto@brantford.ca or call (519) 759-4150 and ask to speak to a Planner in Development Planning.
