City announces additional services now available as part of gradual reopening process

BRANTFORD, ON: In close consultation with the Brant County Health Unit, and consistent with the City’s gradual approach to safely reopening non-essential services to the public, today, the City announces the following service updates:

Reopening effective TODAY, June 29, 2020

The Skate Park at Brant’s Crossing will reopen Monday, June 29th, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a strict 12-person maximum and 30-minute time limit on all visits. A portalet and hand washing /sanitizing station will be available onsite. Visitors are reminded to obey all posted signage and onsite staff attendants.

Reopening effective Friday, July 3, 2020

  1. Brantford Splash Pads – With temperatures expected to rise again later this week, we are pleased to advise that the City’s 3 Splash Pads will reopen on Friday, July 3, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with operational changes and strict preventative measures in place. A portalet and hand washing /sanitizing station will be available. Visitors are reminded to obey all posted signage and onsite staff attendants at each of the following locations:
    • Harmony Square (12-person maximum, 15-minute time limit per turn)
    • Bridlepath Park (12-person maximum, 15-minute time limit per turn)
    • Mohawk Park (15-person maximum, 15-minute time limit per turn)
  2. Cricket Pitch at Rotary Centennial Waterworks Park will reopen on Friday, July 3 under the same guidelines as all other available sports fields. Please phone Parks Services at 519-759-4150 to confirm bookings. Park hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily. Official full-length games not permitted at this time. There is a 10-person maximum on the field at all times. Physical distancing (6 ft) from others outside of your 10 person social circle must be practiced at all times.
  3. The Brantford Farmers’ Market will reopen on Fridays beginning July 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in addition to Saturday’s hours of 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Recent operational changes and strict preventative measures will remain in place. Customers will be asked a series of COVID-19 screening questions before entry and be reminded to practice physical distancing during their visit. Wayfinding and distancing markings have been installed to provide guidance. To ensure physical distancing can be maintained, a limited number of shoppers (one person per household) will be permitted into the Market building at a time.

  • Woodman Park Pool

The City recognizes the popularity of these services and amenities and is working very closely with the Brant County Health Unit to ensure they are safe for public use as soon as possible. Further information regarding these facilities will be announced shortly.

  • Parks and trails for walking and cycling while physical distancing
  • Parking lots at parks and trails
  • Benches
  • Northridge and Arrowdale golf courses
  • Disc golf at Mohawk Park
  • Tennis and pickleball at Steve Brown Sports Park (four people per court maximum)
  • Running track at Steve Brown Sports Park
  • Mulch bins
  • Dogford Park Dog Park (12-person maximum, 30-minute time limit)
  • Dufferin Park Tennis courts from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (four people /court; 25-person maximum)
  • Bike Park at Rotary Centennial Waterworks Park from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (15-person maximum, 30-minute time limit)
  • Jaycee Park half-pipe
  • Multi-use pads
  • Picnic Tables and Shelters

The following sports fields remain open for bookings for recreational/training use:

  • Jaycee Sports Park (softball)
  • Steve Brown Sports Park (softball)
  • Mayfair Park (baseball)
  • Cockshutt Park (hardball, excludes stadium use)
  • Kiwanis Field (football, running track)
  • Bisons Alumni North Park Sports Complex (football, running track)
  • Daubigny Creek Park, George Campbell, Steve Brown Red/Blue and John Wright Soccer Complex (soccer)

All other sports fields remain closed, with limited washrooms facilities at the fields that are open.

  • Select washroom buildings
  • Earl Haig Family Fun Park
  • Lawn bowling
  • Bocce

The City of Brantford stresses that all residents and businesses play a very significant role in successfully reopening our community safely. Please continue to follow these important COVID-19 guidelines to keep yourself and others in our community safe:

  • Wash your hands frequently, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, cover coughs or sneezes, clean and disinfect surfaces and stay home if you are sick.
  • Practice physical distancing (6 ft apart from others) in public at all times and wear a face covering (non-medical mask), such as a cloth mask to reduce the risk of transmission when physical distancing is a challenge.
