City plans for new and improved recreational spaces to open in 2022

Arrowdale Park concept plan

BRANTFORD, ON: Over the last extraordinary sixteen months, many have developed a greater appreciation for how much we rely on recreational spaces and amenities to help improve our well-being, which is why we are pleased to provide the following updates on projects that will inspire more healthy opportunities and memorable outdoor experiences.

Arrowdale Community Park

As a community park, this unique space will service the immediate neighbourhood but given its scope and scale will also serve the broader community and provide enhanced amenities and park features beyond what is normally found in a typical neighbourhood park.  For example, the park will feature several age friendly, all season and accessible amenities.

Based on community feedback, the Arrowdale Community Park design plan, showcasing the ample amenities selected through an extensive public consultation process is now complete and we are pleased to share the following seasonal concept plans of the new park.

At their meeting on May 12, 2021, the City of Brantford Finance Committee approved the reallocation of Gas Tax funding to eliminate the need to use debt financing for both the Dufferin Park redevelopment and Arrowdale Community Park capital projects. This results in an estimated savings of $2.6 million in interest costs over 20 years for tax payers.

Both improvement projects align with the mission of the City’s current Parks and Recreation Master Plan to connect and enrich our community through innovative, inclusive and sustainable parks, facilities, programs, services and natural environments.
