Red-Control designation impacts on City of Brantford programs and services

City Hall

BRANTFORD, ON – Effective immediately, Brantford is in the Red-Control level of the Keeping Ontario Safe and Open Framework. This means broader-scale measures and restrictions across multiple sectors are in place to control transmission in our area. Restrictions in Red-Control are the most severe available before widescale business or organizational closures.

Upon the advice of the Brant County Health Unit Acting Medical Officer of Health (MOH), no patrons outside of the region comprising the City of Brantford, County of Brant and Six Nations of the Grand River are permitted to access recreational services at City of Brantford facilities no matter what colour designation of the Keeping Ontario Safe and Open Framework patrons outside of our region are travelling from.

Outside Jurisdiction Orders

Individuals who live in other jurisdictions who are already registered to play hockey for a Brantford league/team are permitted to only train in City facility rinks while Brantford remains in the Red designation level of the provincial framework. For example, a player who lives in Hamilton is permitted to train at City arenas ONLY IF he/she is pre-registered and is already on a Brantford team. However, entire teams from other jurisdictions outside our region are not permitted to visit City arenas at this time, no matter what colour designation level the team is travelling from. Furthermore, within the Red designation, scrimmage and/or games are not permitted.

Let’s take care of each other

With case counts in our area rising, residents and businesses play an even more significant role in keeping our community safe. There are several risk factors that help drive transmission of COVID-19, including:

  • close contact
  • closed spaces
  • crowded places
  • forceful exhalation

Close contact is the highest risk. Limiting these risks is critical to stopping the spread of COVID_19 in our community. Please stay vigilant and continue to follow these important public health guidelines:

  • Stay home when you can and avoid close contact with others outside of your household
  • Wear a face covering in public spaces
  • Wash your hands frequently
  • Stay home if you are sick, even with mild symptoms
  • Download the COVID alert app

Additional updates regarding City programs and services, and the continuity of services consistent with the Ontario Reopening framework are shared regularly on the City’s Facebook and Twitter pages and at brantford.ca/coronavirus.
