  • June 15th is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD). Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario in collaboration with local Elder Abuse Networks and organizations are planning WEAAD activities across the province to mobilize community action. Activities range from educational workshops and health fairs, to community walks, all in an effort to create awareness of elder abuse and engage people in discussions on how to promote dignity and respect of older adults.   • 7:00 p.m. Author Talk with Krista Foss online Adult Summer Reading Launch Event: Help us launch Adult Summer Reading with an author visit by Krista Foss!
    Krista is the author of the novels Half Life (2021) and Smoke River (2014). Her short fiction has appeared in Canadian and UK journals and has twice been a finalist for the Journey Prize. Her essay writing has been published in Best Canadian Essays and won the Prism International Creative Non-Fiction prize (2016).  Art Your Service
  • The City of Brantford is pleased to announce that they have collaborated with Art Your Service to offer free virtual online programming for older adults to stay connected, have fun and learn new things from the safety of home. Programs include; music, art, cooking classes, exercises, learning sessions and more! Programs run twice a day, five days a week. A library of all programming will be available to watch at your convenience in case you are unable to attend live. Please refer to the following steps to register.
    1. To register, email us. After registration an email will be sent to you with instructions on how to connect to Art Your Service.
    2. Art your service will contact you directly by email to provide you with information on how to get connected.
    3. Once you have sent all the required information to Art Your Service you will be granted full access to a wide variety of virtual programs.

  • Caring for my COPD Program - Virtual education (computer or telephone): A 1:1 exercise session for individuals living with COPD. A referral from an individual’s Primary Care Provider is required to participate. Anyone interested in the program can call Matthew at 519-754-0777 ext.236 to start the referral process. Program is provided by Grand River Community Health Centre.

  • Buzz Me Telephone Program: Join us for a friendly conversation. Learn about ways to connect with the Brantford Community and discover free recreational and educational programs. Planning for the Future: Healthy Aging Workshop Series

The City of Brantford is pleased to offer a free virtual workshop series for older adults to learn how to plan for their future and better protect themselves. From April 29 to June 23, 2021, residents are invited to learn more about Power of Attorney (POA), Wills, Tenants' Rights, Self-Advocacy and more from the safety of home.

Workshops run April 29 to June 23, 2021. All workshops can be joined virtually using Zoom or by phone. Pre-registration is required. A Zoom link or a phone number will be supplied upon registration.
